Three hurt in crash on rain-soaked Pinehurst roads

Three people were injured after two vehicles collided in Pinehurst on a stormy Saturday afternoon.

Pinehurst Fire Department and Pinehurst Police responded to the scene at the intersection of Rattlesnake Trail and Highway 211 around 2:30 p.m.

When first responders arrived, a Volvo XC40 SUV was in the inner lane of the road, resting in the median with heavy damage to the front end and debris in front of it.

The other vehicle, a Kia SUV, came to rest facing the opposite direction off the road with heavy damage to the driver’s side.

According to Pinehurst Police, one vehicle was heading on Highway 211 while the other was on Rattlesnake Trail crossing Highway 211 when the collision occurred at the traffic light.

Two passengers were transported to the hospital with severe injuries and another with non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result of the collision, two lanes of traffic were shut down while firefighters and EMS worked to clear the scene. Pinehurst Police Department is investigating the accident.
