Tip leads to arrest of Pinehurst man for child sex crimes

A tip from a “private citizen” resulted in an arrest of a Pinehurst man for alleged child sex crimes.

According to a Tuesday news release from Moore County Sherriff Ronnie Fields, 60-year-old Paul Gonzalez is facing charges of one count of felony solicitation of child by computer to commit an unlawful sex act and one count of felony dissemination to minors under the age of 16 years old.

The suspect, who lives on Grayson Lane, was jailed at the Moore County Detention Center in Carthage under a $35,000 secured bond.

After the tip came in, the investigation began in Pinehurst, and the suspect was arrested on Feb. 27.

Gonzalez is due in court on March 29 and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
