After receiving tips from the public, Moore County Deputies arrested two individuals in connection to a larceny that occurred Tuesday in Vass.

Hand and power tools along with fishing equipment were reported stolen from a building, according to Moore County Sherrif Ronnie Fields in a news advisory.

“With help from the community, important information was relayed to deputies concerning the type of vehicle being operated and a description of the suspects,” said the advisory.

Authorities spotted the vehicle near the crime scene and arrested Aaron Jason Shaw, 26, of Vass. He was charged with one count of felony larceny and one count of felony possession of stolen goods. His bond was set at $2,500. Most of the stolen goods were recovered in the suspect’s car.

A day later, deputies arrested Cody Richard Volk, 24, of Vass, in connection to the crime. He was charged with one count of felony breaking and entering, one count of felony larceny after breaking and entering, one count of felony larceny, and one count of felony possession of stolen goods. Volk’s bond was set at $5,000.

Authorities said, “anyone with information regarding this or any other case is asked to contact the Moore County Sheriff’s Office Crime Tip Line at 910-947-4444.”

Suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
