A house fire claimed the life of a man Sunday evening.

Firefighters were paged around 11:30 to the home on Deer Track Road in Foxfire.

The first units on the scene said the home was fully engulfed with flames.

Firefighters knocked down the flames and performed a search, but the victim was deceased, who is believed to be 87-year-old Blair Hildebrand. The remains were sent to the state Medical Examiner’s Office.

Firefighters battled the blaze throughout the night and were back on scene Monday morning for rekindling. No firefighters were injured in the blaze.

The home is a total loss.

The exact cause is under investigation at this time.
