On Jan. 3, just before 8 p.m., members of the Southern Pines Police Department Patrol Division responded to Kickback Jack’s about a stolen dog.
“It was reported that a male approached an elderly couple walking to their vehicle and offered to assist them,” said the Southern Pines Police Department in a news advisory. “While assisting the male victim, the male suspect grabbed the couples tan in color shih tzu and ran to a dark in color sedan occupied by a female driver. After the larceny occurred, the vehicle sped away from the scene.”
Lamondrick Blue, 25, of Wagram, and Novia Ratliff, 21, of Hamlet, were arrested in the investigation.
After his arrest, Blue appeared before a Richmond County magistrate, who remanded him to the Richmond County Detention Center without bond pending a hearing in Moore County court on Jan. 16.

The news advisory did not state the charges against the suspects.
Kickback Jack’s announced on its Facebook page that the dog had been returned to its owners after a man found the dog wandering in Laurinburg following a reported hit-and-run wreck.
