Two arrested after traffic stop

Two men were taken into custody Tuesday when law enforcement found drugs after a traffic stop in Aberdeen.

Joshua Hodge, 19, of Carthage, and John Bennett, 29, of Broadway, were pulled over by Moore County Sheriff’s Department in the 32000 block of U.S. Highway 1.

“During the traffic stop, Deputies conducted a search of the vehicle after detecting a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle,” said Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields in a statement. Deputies found about 4,562 grams of marijuana.

Hodge was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession of marijuana 1/2 to 1 1/2 ounces, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia. His bond was set at $2,500.

Bennett was charged with trafficking in marijuana, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, maintaining a vehicle/dwelling place for controlled substances, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia. He was placed under a $25,000 bond.

Both suspects are due in court on October 28 and are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
