Two arrested on cocaine charges following search warrant

Two people, a man from Southern Pines and a woman from Hamlet, were arrested by Moore County Sheriff’s Deputies on several drug charges. Lorenzo Engle, 43, and Judy David, 33, were arrested Tuesday following a search in Southern Pines, said Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields in a news advisory.

Both individuals were placed at the Moore County Detention Center under a 10,000 secured bond for the male suspect and a $7,500 secured bond for the female. Each has a court date on June 9.

Cocaine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and 1,770 in cash were confiscated after deputies presented a search warrant in the 1600 block of U.S. Highway 1 South. Fields said the warrant was obtained after the conclusion of a drug investigation.

Engle was charged possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, felony possession of cocaine, maintaining a vehicle/dwelling place to keep a controlled substance, possession of marijuana up to ½ ounce, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

David was also arrested on the same charges.

Both suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
