Two injured after crashing into tree

Two people were injured Friday when they crashed their car into a tree in Carthage. The single-vehicle accident happened on Vass-Carthage Road near Wave Road around 6:30 p.m.

A Chevrolet Malibu traveling north went off the opposite side of the road, side-swiping one tree before crashing head-on into a second tree. There was heavy damage to the front of the vehicle.

The female occupant was transported with non-life-threatening injuries to Moore Regional Hospital. The male occupant was checked out at the scene for minor injuries but was not transported.

Emergency units had Vass-Carthage Road shut down for a brief period while crews worked the scene.

Carthage Police Department was on the scene investigating the crash.

Responding to the scene were Carthage Fire Department, Moore County EMS and Carthage Police Department.
