Two men wearing ski masks entered a woman’s home in Carthage on Highway 24/27 Friday night and threatened her for money.

Concerned neighbors went over to the 79-year-old victim’s home, and as they pulled into the driveway, a burgundy car left the scene and fired one shot at them, according to a news release from Sheriff Godfrey.

Godfrey said, “The suspect vehicle is a burgundy newer model, possibly a Pontiac passenger car, with some type of writing on the front of the vehicle where there would be a license plate.  The car was last seen heading toward Carthage on Highway 24/27, and the two male suspects were of unknown race and age because of the masks.”

The victim was transported to Moore Regional Hospital and remains in stable condition.

The Moore County Sheriff’s Office is actively working the investigation. They have also contacted area police departments to be on the lookout for the suspects and their vehicle.
