Two new COVID-19 deaths reported for Moore County

On October 16, the Moore County Health Department was notified of the deaths of two Moore County residents whose deaths were determined to be related to COVID-19 infection. The ages, races, ethnicities, and dates of death for the individuals are as follows:

• A Non-Hispanic White Male in the 65-74 age range who passed away on October 3

• A Non-Hispanic White Male over the age of 75 who passed away on October 8

A total of 38 deaths have been attributed to COVID-19 thus far in Moore County. Friday’s reported deaths are the 15 and 16 COVID-19 deaths in Moore that have been linked to community spread. Moore County’s 22 other COVID19 deaths have been linked to outbreaks at long-term care facilities.

COVID-19 deaths include people who have had a positive laboratory test for COVID-19, who died without fully recovering from COVID-19 and who had no alternative cause of death identified. Deaths are reported by hospitals and clinicians directly to local and state health departments.

In total, there have been 2,068 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Moore County to date. Moore County Health Department reports an estimated 1,794 people have recovered from the virus.
