The Moore County Health Department has been notified of confirmed positive COVID-19 test results for four residents and seven staff members of The Coventry located in Southern Pines.
Additionally, two COVID-19 positive staff members and one COVID-19 positive resident have been reported for Elmcroft located in Southern Pines. In long-term care or congregate living settings, a COVID-19 outbreak is defined as two or more laboratory-confirmed cases.
Testing conducted at both facilities from December 13 through December 16 generated the positive COVID-19 test results. Weekly testing for all residents and staff of the facilities will continue until the conclusion of the outbreaks. An outbreak is considered concluded if there is no evidence of transmission following a 28-day period.
With the addition of the two facilities, Moore County’s cumulative total of COVID-19 outbreaks in long-term care and congregate living settings is now 18 since the pandemic began. Of the 18 total outbreaks Moore County has experienced, 10 have been declared concluded. This is the second outbreak for Elmcroft. The facility’s first outbreak, which was reported September 4, generated 17 total cases and one resident death.

• St. Joseph of the Pines
• Quail Haven
• The Greens at Pinehurst
• Tara Plantation of Carthage
• The Coventry
• Elmcroft
