A vacant house was damaged Friday morning when a fire broke out.
The 911 call came in from someone passing by around 11:15 a.m. The home is located in the 1900 block of U.S. 15-501 just outside of Carthage.
The home suffered heavy fire damage in the attic.
A person who was in the house at the time of the fire was transported by EMS to Moore Regional Hospital for burns.
It is unclear how the fire started, and it is under investigation by the Moore County Fire Marshal.
According to Carthage Fire Chief, no firefighters were hurt during the fire.
U.S.15-501 was brought down to one lane of traffic in the area of the fire. Due to the long driveway, fire units had to stage on the highway.
Responding to the scene were Carthage Fire and Rescue, Whispering Pines Fire and Rescue, Eastwood Fire and Rescue, Cypress Pointe Fire and Rescue, Moore County EMS, Moore County Fire Marshal, and Moore County Sheriff’s Office.
