Vass man facing drug charges after traffic stop

Following a traffic stop, authorities have detained a 65-year-old man who is now facing several charges.

“On June 20, 2023, Detectives with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop in the 200 block of Cameron Avenue in Vass,” said Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields in a news advisory. “During the traffic stop, Detectives conducted a search of the vehicle. As a result of the search, Detectives located crack cocaine, suboxone, and items of drug paraphernalia.”

David Willard, of Vass, was arrested for felony possession of schedule II controlled substance, maintaining a vehicle/dwelling place for controlled substances, simple possession of schedule III controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license revoked, and expired registration.

Willard was also served with outstanding warrants out of Forsyth County.

His secured bond was set at $21,000. He is due in court on June 29 and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
