Authorities are investigating a shooting which occurred in the vicinity of Yow Road Sunday morning according to Moore County Sheriff’s Department.

The shooting occurred just after 10 am during a dispute between two individuals while they were in their vehicles. The victim, Matthew Munz, was in a white truck at the corner of 705 and Chrisco Road which is north of Carthage.  It was reported that the victim had multiple gunshot wounds.

The shooter called 911 while authorities were enroute and stated that the shooting was self-defense.  He was at a residence on Crisco Rd and he would remain there to meet with law enforcement.  Justin Edward Chriscoe, age 35 of the 600 block of Yow Road in Seagrove, was arrested and charged with assault with deadly weapon/intent to kill.  Chriscoe was given a $200,000 bond and has a September 25th court date.

The victim was airlifted to a trauma center.  This was not a random act of violence and the Moore County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the incident, according to Sheriff Godfrey.

Responding to the scene were Westmore Fire Department, Moore County EMS,  Robbins Police Department, and Moore County Sheriffs Department.
