The Village of Pinehurst invites residents, property owners, and stakeholders to attend a public input meeting on the Planned Development Ordinance (PDO) update on Wednesday, September 17, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Assembly Hall, 395 Magnolia Road.
This drop-in style meeting will feature an ongoing presentation and interactive stations highlighting proposed changes. Village staff and consultants from Kimley-Horn will be on-site to explain updates, answer questions, and gather community feedback.
The PDO contains the Village’s zoning and development regulations, governs standards such as allowable uses, building heights, setbacks, density, and design. The update process is driven by the 2019 Comprehensive Plan, which set a vision for Pinehurst’s future growth and development. The PDO will serve as an implementation tool for that plan while modernizing regulations that have not kept pace with two decades of growth.
Primary goals of the PDO update include:
*Implementing recommendations from the 2019 Comprehensive Plan and Small Area Plans
*Updating development and design standards
*Creating a graphic-rich, better organized, user-friendly policy guide
*Modernize and update development standards and criteria
*Streamline, clarify, and convert processes based on the level of decision
*Improve enforcement by developing clear objective standards while removing subjectivity
This is an important opportunity for the community to learn more about the PDO update and ensure the Village’s land use policies reflect Pinehurst’s values and vision for the future.
