The N.C. Department of Transportation (DOT) will permanently close Mode Road at the railroad near Knox Lane in West End to reduce at-grade railroad crossings to improve traffic safety and make railroads more secure.  The closure will take place on Thursday, June 29th.

DOT will remove asphalt between the tracks on Mode Road and Knox Lane while replacing it with grass.  A Guardrail will be installed, and this area will then become a dead end street.  Knox Road will be unaffected by the closure.
