Police investigating murder-suicide in Whispering Pines

An investigation is underway after the Whispering Pines Police Department responded to a home Tuesday evening on South Lakeshore Drive, near Niagara Carthage Road, due to a “psychiatric/suicide attempt.”

“Upon arrival, officers on scene reported finding two bodies inside the residence both were identified as the sole occupants of the residence,” said Whispering Pines Police Chief Jason Graham in an email to Sandhills Sentinel Tuesday evening. “Both victims were deceased upon arrival, and both victims sustained gun shot wounds.”

Graham confirmed the next day the deceased couple was David and Amber Jensen, ages 47.

“The investigation is leading us to believe this was a murder suicide and no foul play is suspected,” said Graham. “There also appears to be no ongoing threat to the community. Please keep this family and our community in your prayers as this was a tragic situation for everyone.”

So far into the investigation, officials believe the incident took place on Sunday evening because that’s the last time anyone heard from the couple.

When David Jensen didn’t show up for work on Tuesday, a co-worker went to the house to check on him. When no one came to the door, the co-worker talked to a neighbor who then went inside the house and discovered the bodies and called 911, according to Graham.

The Jensen’s are survived by two adult children.
