Woman airlifted after rollover crash

A single-vehicle accident in the Lobelia area of Moore County sent a woman to a trauma center. Sunday evening, several emergency units were dispatched to the accident in the area of Riverbend Drive on N.C. Highway 690.

The driver was traveling east in a Hyundai Santa Fe when she lost control in a curve, slid sideways down a hill and overturned with the vehicle coming to a stop between two large trees.

Firefighters had to cut the passenger door off of the vehicle to get the patient out.

A second rescue unit with Cypress Pointe Fire Department was called to set up a landing zone at Crains Creek Fire Department for a helicopter to fly the patient to a trauma center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The adult female was the only occupant.

Highway Patrol was on scene investigating the cause of the accident.

Lobelia Road was shut down for two brief periods of time while emergency personnel worked the scene, and the vehicle was removed.

Responding to the scene were Crains Creek Fire Department, Cypress Pointe Fire Department, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriffs Office and N.C. Highway Patrol.
