Woman airlifted to hospital after dog attack

A 30-year-old woman was airlifted to a hospital Tuesday afternoon after being attacked by five dogs outside of Robbins, according to authorities at the scene.

The attack happened on Highway 24/27 when she was walking on the side of the road. The woman stated on social media the large breed dogs dragged her into the woods.

The call came in just after 12:30 p.m. from a doctor’s office in Robbins where the victim went for assistance.

After calling 911, Robbins Fire and Rescue was dispatched to set up a landing zone at Milliken Park in Robbins. 

The victim was transported to the landing zone and flown to UNC Hospitals by Tar Heel 2.

Her condition is unknown at this time. 

The owner of the dogs agreed to turn the animals into Moore County Sheriff’s Office Animal Services.

This is the second dog attack in Moore County Sandhills Sentinel has reported on in three days. Saturday, a young child was airlifted in Pinehurst after being attacked on Briarcliff Court outside of Pinehurst. The boy’s mother reported a day later that he was in the intensive care unit expected to recover.
