A woman escaped serious injury during a single-vehicle crash on Highway 73 near Jackson Springs.

A Cadillac Northstar was traveling southbound on Highway 73 near Derby Road on Thanksgiving night. The female driver told investigators she swerved to avoid hitting a deer.

According to troopers with the N.C. State Highway Patrol, the driver lost control of the vehicle, hit a ditch, and possibly flipped the car.

The driver was the only person in the Cadillac at the time of the crash and was transported to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital by ambulance with minor injuries.

Responding to the scene were West End Fire Department, Moore County EMS, and N.C. State Highway Patrol.
