The Woodlake Women’s Club (WWC) is preparing for its 24th annual Gingerbread Program. WWC teams up with Vass-Lakeview Elementary School to give 50-60 less fortunate children a very merry Christmas. The names of the children are provided by the school and then selected by the entire Woodlake community to purchase needed clothing, books and a few games.
The craft group at Woodlake makes a Christmas stocking for every child. The knitter group makes a warm stocking cap for them.
This year, the Christmas party will be held at Vass-Lakeview Elementary School on Dec. 14 just before their holiday break.
At the party, Principal Dr. Michelle Bennett reads a Christmas book to the children. Then they are greeted by Santa (John Misiaszek), Mrs. Claus (Donna McClary), and Elf (Beth Mason).
The gingerbread kids have a wonderful afternoon eating home made cookies and playing games with the Woodlake women and the Union Pines Leo’s (Vass Lions Club).
