Aberdeen man facing felony assault by strangulation charge

The Aberdeen Police Department announced the arrest of Edward Davis, 43, of Aberdeen. On Dec. 20, Aberdeen officers responded to a home in the Bradford Drive and Pecan Grove Drive area about multiple calls of an apparent active disturbance.

Upon arrival, officers went door to door and spoke with individuals outside to locate the home where the disturbance had occurred. Eventually, officers located an adult male, identified as Davis, and an adult female inside an apartment.

Aberdeen officers spoke with witnesses and investigated the alleged dispute, at which point they said that Davis had assaulted the female, said Aberdeen Police Chief Brian Chavis in a press release. Davis was arrested for felony assault by strangulation and misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.

Davis was taken before a Moore County magistrate, who gave him no bond pending a hearing with a judicial official.
