An altercation led to one man being cut, and the assailant fleeing the scene Friday outside Aberdeen. Authorities were called to the Shell Gas Station at the corner of Carolina Road and Highway 211 at 11:30 pm.

When they arrived on the scene, they found a man with a severe laceration to the arm. He had reportedly been arguing with another man at the gas pumps when it escalated and resulted in the other man pulling a knife and cutting the victim. The assailant jumped into a car and fled the scene.

A bystander that witnessed the attack used his shirt as a bandage to stop the bleeding until emergency crews arrived.

Aberdeen Police interviewed witnesses and reviewed the store’s security footage to aid in identifying the assailant. They advised the investigation is ongoing at this time.

The victim was transported to Firsthealth Moore Regional by EMS in stable condition.

Responding to the scene were Aberdeen Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, and Aberdeen Police.
