Bobby Frye, of Robbins, 49, is facing a charge of hit and run causing serious injury after being arrested on Friday.
The hit-and-run occurred Tuesday outside of Robbins around 9 p.m. when a boy was walking on Spies Road near Edward Road. A second boy riding his bike was not hit.

Twelve-year-old Tyler Lee Mabe was airlifted to a trauma center in serious condition.
Authorities were searching for the car that had right, front damage and was heading west on Spies Road toward Montgomery County. Three days later, North Carolina Highway Patrol arrested Frye.

Angel Gilmore set up an online fundraiser for the Westmoore Elementary student.
Mabe “was walking home from visiting neighbor; excited to share football practice information, and on his return home was struck by an unknown vehicle, who fled the scene,” said Gilmore on the fundraiser’s page. “Tyler was airlifted to chapel hill on 8-30-22 after being left to die. He is in a medically induced coma, suffering head trauma, broken ribs, broken sternum, broken hips, broken leg, broken pelvis and swelling on the brain. The doctors have said he will need physical therapy, speech therapy, rehab and more.”
Frye was placed at the Moore County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond and is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
