Carthage man charged with forcible rape

A Carthage man is behind bars under a $500,000 secured bond and charged with forcible rape.

Patrick Thomas, 22, of McCaskil Road, was arrested on Sept. 9 after a report of rape came into the Moore County Sheriff’s Office on Aug. 21, announced Sheriff Ronnie Fields.

The alleged crime took place in the Carthage area.

The suspect was charged with one count of second-degree forcible rape, two counts of a second-degree forcible sexual offense, and one count of sexual battery.

According to information from the Moore County Detention Center, the rape occurred on Aug. 17.

Thomas is scheduled to appear in Moore County district court on September 22 and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
