A local support group for caregivers of those diagnosed with dementia is now meeting weekly in Pinehurst. This weekly gathering is intended for caregivers. The focus is to provide support, resources, and education.
Starting Nov. 2, the group will meet every Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. at Brookdale Pinehurst located at 17 Regional Road, Pinehurst.
Program topics include strategies for learning more about dementia, coping with the diagnosis, addressing related challenges, and exploring resources and ideas. The support group offers a caring approach to learning and sharing within a group setting with others who face similar challenges.
Stephanie Blue, a trained Dementia Alliance of North Carolina support group facilitator, will lead the weekly discussions. Blue is a care management associate with Aging Outreach Services. Her personal and professional background includes 15 years working with and supporting the needs of families coping a dementia diagnosis.
The weekly meetings are sponsored by Brookdale Pinehurst and Aging Outreach Services.
“Our goal is to provide families with an open forum to listen, learn, and share. We want to build a community of support for families navigating the ever-changing needs of their loved ones,” shares Blue.
