Domestic dispute leaves one dead, one critical

Moore County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a shooting outside Pinebluff Monday that left one person dead and one person in critical condition following an argument.

The first responders were called to the man and woman’s home in the 200 block of Whippoorwill Lane, off Thunder road, just after 4 p.m.

Deputies heard additional gunshots inside when they arrived on the scene. They discovered 42-year-old Jason Vuncannon deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to a Tuesday press release from Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields.

“Deputies discovered a female victim with a gunshot wound,” said Fields about finding 39-year-old Nicole Lowen in the home’s kitchen with a chest wound.
