A man was arrested on Friday after crashing a Dodge Ram truck into a building in Eagle Springs.

A 9-1-1 call was placed shortly after 2 p.m. reporting the crash at the intersection of Eagle Springs Road and Eagle Branch Road.

A witness was able to get a photo of the driver before he left, and deputies were able to locate the man in the woods less than a mile from the crash.

According to investigators, the Ram was traveling along Eagle Branch Road toward Eagle Springs Road, ran through the stop sign, and into the building across the street.

N.C. State Highway Patrol conducted a field sobriety test on the driver at the scene and placed him in handcuffs after.

The intersection was blocked off by Eagle Springs Fire and West End Fire during the investigation. A building inspector determined the building is not safe to enter following the crash.

According to information from Moore County Detention Center later in the night, Gerardo Cazares Ramirez, 50, of Eagle Springs, is facing a charge of driving while impaired.
