Driver ejected in fatal West End crash

A 51-year-old woman from the Eagle Springs area was killed Wednesday afternoon in a rollover crash near West End, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

The woman was driving a Ford F-150 and was the vehicle’s sole occupant when the crash occurred shortly after 2 p.m. near Beulah Hill Church Road and Dormie Drive.

Sergeant Smith with N.C. Highway Patrol told Sandhills Sentinel that the driver ran off the side of the road and overcorrected, causing her to lose control of the truck. The vehicle overturned several times, and she was ejected.

Smith confirmed the driver was not wearing a seat belt and that speed contributed to the crash. Authorities did not release the woman’s identity.

Authorities blocked access to the area while they investigated the crash and cleared the wreckage.
