Car flips in two-vehicle crash near Woodlake

Two vehicles collided in a crash just outside of the Woodlake community on Thursday afternoon. The crash happened shortly after 4 p.m. on Lobelia Road at the intersection of McLauchlin Road.

According to Highway Patrol investigating the collision, a Ford Escape in the eastbound lane of Lobelia Road attempted to turn left onto McLauchlin Road but failed to yield to a Honda CRV traveling westbound toward Vass.

The two SUVs collided, causing the Honda to spin around, facing the opposite direction, and roll onto its driver’s side.

The Ford stopped at the intersection, blocking the westbound lane on Lobelia Road.

Both vehicles sustained heavy damage in the crash, but both female drivers, who were the only occupants, were not transported by ambulance to the hospital at the time of this report. 

One lane of Lobelia Road was shut down for about an hour, causing significant traffic delays through the area.

Responding units were Cypress Pointe Fire Department, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Office, and N.C. Highway Patrol.
