Dually truck crashes in storm

Authorities said a storm with heavy downpours may have contributed to a single-vehicle accident in Vass Monday afternoon.

Sometime after 2 p.m., someone passing by stopped to check on the driver of a dually pickup truck and proceeded to the fire department to let someone know.

Firefighters then responded to the accident on Vass-Carthage Road near Major Road. The single occupant of the truck was not injured.

The truck was on its driver’s side in a curve, leaning into the brush. Debris from the truck bed was scattered along the left side of the road.

Cypress Pointe Fire and Rescue authorities believe weather impacted the accident, but the N.C State Highway Patrol is investigating the exact cause.
