Multiple fire stations from across Moore County responded to a large structure fire in the Seven Lakes West community late Saturday afternoon.
A home in the 100 block of Pittman Road had heavy flames and smoke showing as the first units arrived on the scene.
Responding fire units reported seeing heavy smoke as far away as Highway 211 as they were enroute.
The 5,000 sq. ft. lakefront home suffered extensive damage and is believed to be a total loss. Firefighters battled the blaze for an extended period of time, and a number of firetrucks and personnel responded to the blaze.
Seven Lakes Fire and Rescue Deputy Chief David Alston told Sandhills Sentinel the family and all their pets made it safely out of the home.
The Red Cross is assisting the family.
The Moore County Fire Marshal is investigating the exact cause of the fire.
