Firefighters quickly knock down blaze in Aberdeen home

Flames erupted in an Aberdeen home on Saunders Blvd. on Friday morning.

According to radio traffic, Aberdeen Police were first on the scene and advised of a fire in the garage area of the brick home. The homeowners were not home when the fire broke out, so firefighters made entry through the garage.

Firefighters dealt with an issue during the fire that could have made things more difficult. Firefighters attempted to hook to two hydrants in the area and experienced no pressure because of a water main break on Saunders Blvd. at the same time as the fire.

Despite the lack of hydrants, firefighters undergo training and remain prepared to adapt to any issues that may arise. Despite the challenges, firefighters extinguished the fire in under 15 minutes.

There were no injuries.

The fire was in the attic, according to Aberdeen Fire and Rescue, and the cause is under investigation.
