The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has been assisting the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office in investigating a Lee County man who allegedly attempted to purchase a 9-year-old child.
On Thursday, April 25, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at the residence in the 1300 block of Post Office Road in Sanford.
Joseph Jay Vieu, 50, was arrested on charges of two counts of human trafficking of a child victim and two counts of solicitation of prostitution of a minor. Vieu was brought before a Lee County magistrate and issued no bond.
“This investigation is still on going,” said Lee County Sheriff Brian Estes in a news release. “I have no words to describe this type of behavior. I would like to thank the investigators involved with this case and I pray for Justice.”
Defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
