A moped driver was airlifted to an area trauma center after an accident in Southern Pines Tuesday.
According to radio traffic, the accident involved a moped and vehicle at Highway 15-501 and Morganton Road intersection.
The accident occurred just before 2 p.m.
The male driver was transported to Memorial Park on Morganton Road, where he was airlifted to a hospital. His injuries are unclear at this time, but officials on the scene said he was conscious and speaking.
Firefighters drove the moped off the street. The moped appeared to have minor damage.
