Barbara Thompson passed away on June 17, 2019 at First Health Hospice House in Pinehurst, NC.

Born February 16, 1962, Barbara attended schools in Ridgefield New Jersey, and graduated from RMHS in 1980. She was a long-time employee of Panasonic, both in New Jersey and in Southern California, where she lived for 12 years. Barbara resided in Central New Jersey from 2000 through 2005, and then moved to Pinehurst NC with her husband Tom. She loved life in Pinehurst: the tranquility of the area, friendliness of the residents, the close proximity of family including her parents, and the many good friends at the Village where she worked for 12 years. These friends loved and supported Barbara during her struggle with cancer.

Predeceased by her husband Tom DellaRossa and her father Edward Thompson, Barbara is survived by her mother Teresa, brother Mark, and sister Karen, two nieces and two nephews, and many close friends in Pinehurst. Her beloved Golden Retrievers, Hunter and Ryder, are now broken-hearted.

Barbara fought cancer for close to two years, with determination, steadfast optimism, smiles, and a goal of being home. Later this summer, she will return to New Jersey to be with the remains of Tom and her first dog, Caymen. There will be a celebration of Barbara’s life at that time.

Donations in her honor can be made to The American Cancer Society or the Neuse River Golden Retriever Rescue.
