Beth Massey of Southern Pines, NC passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at St. Joseph of the Pines.
She was born and raised in Decatur, Illinois on january5, 1940 to the late Fred and Floy Cable Massey. Beth was pre-deceased by her brother, Henry Cable Massey of Illinois and her sister, Frederica Harvick of Southern Pines.
After receiving her Bachelor’s Degree from Eastern Illinois University she received her Master’s from the University of Illinois and from Oriel College of the University of Oxford in Oxford, England. Beth accrued extensive post graduate studies as well. She spent her career teaching history while living in the Chicago, Illinois area. Beth loved the opera and for many years had season tickets to the opera in Chicago. She also loved traveling and spending time with family and friends in Illinois.
Loving the North Carolina weather, Beth and her sister moved to Southern Pines to be near their sister and brother-in-law. She loved entertaining out of town friends as well as participating in activities with her North Carolina friends.
Beth will be forever cherished by her surviving sister Mitzi and husband Jerry Dare of Southern Pines and her niece Kay Weisman of Vancouver, British Columbia.
Beth requested no service. Memorial may be made to St. Jude.
