Obituary for Betty H. Price of Aberdeen

Betty H. Price, 78, of Aberdeen, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by family. She was a devoted and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, known and recognized by her beautiful, joyful smile.

Betty was born September 28, 1947, in Chesterfield, SC, to Joseph and Hattie Hancock.  In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her sister Arie Hancock; brothers, Edward Gainey, Robert Gainey, Leonard Gainey, David Hancock, and granddaughter Alyssa Butler.

Betty is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, William E. “Bill” Price; daughters, Cheryl Butler (David), Paula Locklear, Tina Hobgood (Brent) and Stacy Mills (Steve); grandchildren; Hannah Butler, Joshua Butler, Jordan Fields (Kelsey), Braxton Fields (Katelyn), Devin Goodwin (Peter), Dalton Goodwin (Katie), Madeline Mills, Aaron Mills; great-grandchildren; Brantley Fields,

Bryson Fields and Nala Tyler; as well as a host of extended family, church family and close friends.

Betty worked for CP&L, BB&T and finally for Pinehurst Medical Clinic. Most of all, Betty loved and adored her family – especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family dinners, gatherings, and holidays were important to her. 

The family wishes to acknowledge FirstHealth Hospice care team and caregiver Deidra Hart for the care, kindness and compassion shown to Betty in her final days.

A visitation will be held at Boles Funeral Home, 425 W. Pennsylvania Avenue, Southern Pines, NC 28387 from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Boles Funeral Home Chapel and burial will follow at Bethesda Cemetery in Aberdeen.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to an Alzheimer’s or Dementia Charity of your choice.
