Billy “Bill” Floyd Evans, age 86, of Aberdeen passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at First Health Moore Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 2:00pm at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Carthage with Pastor Mike Garner and Pastor Eugene Ussery officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church from 1 until 2.
Bill was born in Hoke County on December 10, 1936 to the late Tommie and Bessie Collier Evans. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Julia Thomas Evans; sisters, Peggy Davis and Shirley Frye.
He is survived by his daughters, Karen Wheeler (David) of Raeford and Donna Thomason (Michael) of Cameron; sons, Steven Floyd Evans (Donna) of Aberdeen and Tommy Wayne Evans (Beth) of Vass; sisters, Kathleen Slawson of Florida, Mildred Needham of Florida and Dale Howard of Morrisville; nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and soon to be one great great-grandson, Shane Burton.
Bill proudly served his country in the United Sates Air Force but was most proud of his family, who lovingly referred to him as “Pa”. His favorite hobbies were hunting, fishing and playing golf. He also loved his church and was honored to have served as a deacon at Emmanuel Baptist Church.
