Frank Michael Cummins died peacefully August 31, 2018 after a valiant fight with prostate cancer.

Mike was born May 16, 1930 in Pompton Lakes, NJ. 

He attended Lehigh University and graduated in May of 1951 marrying his sweetheart Gail four days later.  Mike was called into service for the Korean War and spent two years with the Army Corps of Engineers. He was employed for several years as assistant county engineer for Essex County, NJ.  He then obtained his masters in civil engineering from Newark College of Engineering now known as New Jersey Institute of Technology in 1956.  He was appointed County Engineer of Essex County where he served for seven years. 

Upon finding you could play golf in the winter, he and Gail moved in 1987 to Seven Lakes in West, End, NC.  There they enjoyed the many friends they made and the golf that was played. The final move was to Penick Village in August of 2011.  At Penick he enjoyed playing bridge with the Men’s Group. 

Mike is survived by his wife Gail Cummins of 67years; two children, Sally Underwood and husband Greg of Charlotte, NC; and James (Jim) Cummins and wife Odalys of Ambler, PA;  Also surviving are three grandchildren, Tyler, Briana, and Elizabeth; a brother, Jim Cummins and wife Jesse of Midland Park, NJ;

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chapel in The Pines or the Penick Foundation.

Funeral Services will be held 2PM Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the Chapel in the Pines in Seven Lakes.  A reception will follow from 3-5 at Penick Village in Southern Pines.
