Gerald Francis “Jerry” Genaw, 82, of Aberdeen, NC passed away peacefully on December 30, 2019 at Quail Haven Village in Pinehurst.
Jerry was born in River Rouge, Michigan on March 7, 1937 to the late Osborne and Gertrude Harbart Genaw. He graduated from St. Francis Xavier High School in Ecorse, MI and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp reserves. He married Catharine MacLaurin on January 15, 1982. Jerry loved computers sailing, golf and college football – particularly the Michigan Wolverines. Jerry retired from General Dynamics Land Systems and went on to work at Ford Motor Company until his second retirement in 2001. In 2002, he and Cathy moved to Moore County, North Carolina to enjoy the beautiful weather and friendly people.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Catharine Genaw; son Jay Genaw (wife Kimberly); daughter Denise Willie (husband Dwayne); grandchildren Jack and Olivia Genaw and Andrew Willie; brother Ronald Genaw.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister Shirley Genaw.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 3, 2020 at 2:00PM at Boles Funeral Home, 425 W. Pennsylvania Avenue, Southern Pines, NC 28387, Pastor Marty Prince officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service starting at 1:00PM.
