Herman “Hank” H. Self, Jr., 73, was born November 26, 1950, in Cheverly, MD. Hank passed into his eternal Father’s presence on December 9, 2023, at his home in West End, NC, surrounded by his immediate family members. Despite many life challenges, Hank courageously determined to live life.
Hank is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Carr Self, who is an employee of Fayetteville Technical Community College, two daughters, Michelle Boltik (Sam) and Charity Self, and a son, Daniel Self (Bethany), as well as three grandsons (Samuel, Nathaniel, Caleb) and two brothers (Stanley and Aubrey) and a sister (Shari). He also leaves behind his beloved Silky, Juniper.
Following graduation from high school, Hank completed a journeyman apprenticeship (specifically bookbinding) at Editor’s Press (Kiplinger Washington Editor’s Inc.); he later worked for Case Hoyt in Rochester, NY. Hank worked in the printing industry most of his life.
A memorial service will be held at Yates-Thagard Baptist Church on January 6, 2024, at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted for the Multiple Myeloma (MM) Research Foundation.
