James L. Weisenburger, 87, of Pinehurst, passed away at the FirstHealth Hospice House on Sunday, June3rd.

His funeral will be held at the Boles Funeral Home, 425 W. Pennsylvania Ave., Southern Pines, Thursday at 2:00 P.M. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the ceremony.

James was born in Pulaski, N.Y. July 4, 1930. He joined the U.S Marine Corps in 1947 and served for 21 years including Korea 195, receiving the Purple Heart, and Vietnam in 1966. Jim was retired in 1968 as 1st Sgt. and 1st Lt. He was a life member of the Marine Corps League for over 50 years, the Lions Club for 32 years, Life member of the VFW, American Legion, Purple Heart Association, Disabled American Veterans; as well as other military organizations. Jim enjoyed helping others and volunteered of years in the Emergency area of Pinehurst, NC hospital. He was the owner of Ye Olde Towne Realty, co – owner of Upstate Automotive Supplies.

Jim was predeceased by his loving wife Julia of 65 years; his parents Alfred and Mabel of Lacona, N.Y.; his brother Lawrence and David. He is survived by his son Charlie (Myrna), daughter Susan; his sister Darcy Stevens, nephews, nieces grandchildren and great grandchildren.
