Robert Watson Stone, Jr. “Bobby,” age 83, of Putnam, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2024, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
A native of Guilford County, he was the son of the late Robert and Mary Ila Phillips Stone. Bobby was a Carman for the Norfolk Southern Railroad and a long-time member of Glendon Independent Christian Church, where he had formerly served as a trustee.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Gene Stone, and sister, Betty Oldham.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years Rosemary Stanley Stone; son Shane Stone of Browns Summit; daughters Rhonda Simmons and her husband Darrell of Pleasant Garden, and Angela Jordan-Lynn of Davidson; grandson Taylor Simmons and his wife, Julieanna; granddaughter Zoe Lynn; great-grandchildren Jacob and Hattie.
A graveside service for family and friends will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at Glendon Independent Christian Church Cemetery, conducted by Rev. John Williamson.
