Mrs. Martha Jo (Sue) Ivey, 71, of Carthage, died Saturday, December 30, 2017 at FirstHealth Hospice in Pinehurst. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:50 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at the Joyce – Brady Chapel in Bennett. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Tim Qualls and Rev. Darrell Garner presiding and burial will follow at Putnam Friends Church.

Sue was born in Mecklenburg County, N.C. in 1946, daughter of the late J.D. Diggs and Belzora Green Diggs. She worked briefly as a hairstylist and then alongside her husband owned and operated J & S Trucking. In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting and canning and sharing the good of both with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister and one brother. She is survived by her husband of 27 years Jerry Wayne Ivey of the home, three sons; Michael Wade Teague of Robbins, Terry Gene Phillips and wife Bonnie of Asheboro, Bobby Joe Tucker and wife Rachelle of Siler City; one daughter Dana Tucker Trent and husband David of Asheboro. Two brothers; Earl Thomas Diggs and wife Connie of New Mexico, Tom Diggs of Mebane NC; two sisters; Rebecca Diggs Walters of Carthage and Sandra Diggs Powers and husband Wayne also of Carthage, 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
