One airlifted after power pole crash

Thursday, around 3:40 p.m., a good Samaritan called 911 about a vehicle she noticed on the side of Niagara-Carthage Road in Carthage.

The mangled Honda sat in a ditch facing south, airbags deployed, various pieces of the car lying in the ditch, and the windshield completely shattered.

One airlifted after power pole crash Thursday

It appears that the driver was traveling northbound on Niagara-Carthage Road when the Honda went off the road at a curve, swerved back onto the road, then went off again, ultimately hitting a power pole that flipped her car back in the direction from which it came.

The woman was life-flighted from a field at the intersection of Niagara Carthage and Joel roads. Emergency responders said she was alert with non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the wreck is still under investigation at the time of this article.

Moore County EMS, the Moore County Sheriff’s Office, N.C. State Highway Patrol, Carthage Fire Department, and Southern Pines Fire Department responded.
