One person was airlifted to a trauma center, and one person was taken to Moore Regional Hospital after a wreck in Southern Pines on Wednesday.
A semitruck collided with a Kia Soul just before noon in front of Pinecrest Plaza.
Authorities say the Kia Soul was attempting a left turn out of Pinecrest Plaza on the 15/501 exit when a semitruck heading northwest struck the car on the driver’s side.
The male driver of the semi was unharmed, but two women in the Kia had to be extracted from the vehicle. The Kia driver was flown to a trauma center due to the extent of her injuries, and the passenger was taken to Moore Regional Hospital.
There was also a dog in the Kia who was unharmed but shaken.
Units responding to the incident included Southern Pines and Aberdeen Fire departments, Moore County EMS, Southern Pines Police Department and Rockwell Towing.
