Person airlifted after wreck

One person was airlifted to a trauma center after a wreck on Monday. Just before 10:30 a.m., authorities were dispatched to a four-vehicle crash in Robbins.

The wreck occurred on Highway 24/27 near Sullivan Lane, just before the Robbins Crossroads. This is the second crash on Highway 24/27 on Monday and the third in two days.

The collision happened in a work zone in the westbound lane. The front vehicle was a Ford truck, the second and third vehicles were passenger cars, and the last was a Dodge truck.

Robbins Fire Chief Timmy Brown told Sandhills Sentinel that one woman was airlifted from Milliken Park to UNC Hospitals, two patients were transported to Moore Regional Hospital by EMS, and two occupants refused treatment.

The extent of the injuries is unknown.

It was unclear if the road work played a part in the collision. The State Highway Patrol is investigating.

The wreck caused significant delays as the westbound lane was shut down for nearly two hours.
