Pregnant woman, child involved in head-on crash

Four people were sent to the hospital after being involved in a head-on crash on Saturday. The two-vehicle accident occurred outside Cameron just before midnight on Highway 24/27 near Crains Creek Road.

“One vehicle had a pregnant female and another female with a small child, while the other car had one male driver,” said Cypress Pointe Fire and Rescue on its Facebook page. “Fortunately, no one was trapped in the wreck; however, everyone was transported to the hospital.”

After the impact, the Toyota stopped in the middle of the highway, and the Honda stopped on the shoulder of the road. Debris littered the highway and the side of the road. The highway was closed for over an hour.

The fire department did not state how the crash occurred. The North Carolina Highway Patrol was on scene investigating the wreck. 

Along with Cypress Pointe Fire and Rescue, Highway Patrol, and EMS, the Sheriff’s Department was assisting on the scene.
