A teen on her way to an event at Union Pines High School lost control and crashed just before reaching Vass town limits Saturday morning. The single-vehicle crash happened a little before 9 a.m. in the 800 block of Lobelia Road.
According to officials on scene, the driver was traveling west towards Vass to attend an event at Union Pines High School when she lost control of the Nissan passenger vehicle she was driving in a curve.
Authorities told the Sandhills Sentinel that her vehicle crossed the centerline, swerved back to the right, spun around, and skidded off the right shoulder of the road before overturning and coming to rest on its passenger side in the front yard of a residence.
When emergency units arrived on scene, the female was initially trapped in the vehicle but was freed quickly.

EMS evaluated her on scene, and then she was transported to Moore Regional Hospital.
One lane of Lobelia Road was shut down while crews worked the scene and Rockwell Towing arrived to remove the vehicle.
N.C. Highway Patrol was on scene investigating the crash. No details regarding the cause were released.
Responding units were Cypress Pointe Fire Department, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Office, and North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
